About our Programs
Our Long Day Care and kindergarten offers a comprehensive play-based program using The Early Years Learning Framework “Belonging, Being, Becoming,” which is a national curriculum framework. The 5 Learning Outcomes of EYLF are designed to integrate and develop the complex learning dispositions, skills, and knowledge of children under 5 years of age. These outcomes ensure that children have a strong sense of identity, are connected with and contribute to their world, possess a strong sense of wellbeing, are confident and involved learners, and become effective communicators.Children have a strong sense of identity
Our program is flexible and allows children to:
Develop their social skills through interactions with peers and staff in a safe play environment
Use their imagination, problem solve, question, brainstorm and think critically.
Follow up interests and to meet needs relevant to themselves and others.

Have opportunities to explore a wide range of learning experiences through play

Our Bush Kinder program takes place once a month at the beautiful and culturally significant Woodlands Historic Park. This unique outdoor experience supports children's development through nature-based play and learning.
Through hands-on exploration, children:
Discover and investigate local flora and fauna
Enjoy guided bushwalks and nature trails
Build with natural materials to create shelters and imaginative structures
Express creativity through nature-inspired art and craft
These immersive experiences promote:
A deep appreciation and respect for the natural environment
Social and emotional growth through collaborative play
Cognitive development through problem-solving and inquiry
Flexibility and adaptability in ever-changing outdoor settings
Confidence and resilience by encouraging safe risk-taking and independent thinking

Bush Kinder
The "Out and About" program provides children with exciting opportunities to explore and learn about the world beyond the classroom. This initiative includes trips to various locations within the community, such as the local bakery, local primary schools, the library, Anzac Park, the local duck pond, local parks, and the dentist clinic.
Community Involvement: Introduces young children to the concept of community service and social responsibility.
Social and Emotional Development: Promotes positive interactions and relationships among peers.
Sensory Engagement: Encourages exploration through all five senses, enhancing their understanding of the environment.
Road Safety Awareness: Teaches children important road safety rules, fostering a sense of safety in the community.
Nature Nurturing: Connects children with the natural environment, promoting appreciation and care for nature.
Gross Motor Skill Development: Provides physical activities that enhance gross motor skills through active play and exploration.
School Readiness: Prepares children for school by fostering independence, curiosity, and confidence in new environments.
Out and About: Community services visits
At Hothlyn Drive Children’s Centre, our Cooking Experiences program offers children a fun and enriching way to learn through hands-on food activities. More than just making meals, this program helps children build essential life skills while developing a positive relationship with healthy eating.
This engaging program supports each child’s development in a fun, inclusive, and interactive way—nurturing not only their cooking abilities but also their confidence and curiosity.

Cooking Experience
Our Garden Program provides children with hands-on opportunities to explore nature, sustainability, and healthy eating. By planting, watering, and harvesting fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers, children learn about the life cycle of plants, environmental care through composting and worm farming, and the joy of growing their own food. This outdoor experience also supports sensory exploration, fine and gross motor development, and encourages responsibility and teamwork as children work together to care for the garden and see the results of their efforts.
